Cornerian Army: PC Tournament Profile

PC Profile: The Cornerian Army and Cornerian Defence Force

Author's note: I decided to make a Planetary Tournament profile for the Star Fox forces for two reasons. The first being that it's a good challenge; since they're mostly seen as a space based force. The second is that by focusing on the mainstream Cornerian Army I can widen the scope of the conflict in the Lylat system beyond the StarFox Mercenary outfit.

I mean I know that Fox won the war in StarFox 64, but even if he took the hardest path, there's still fifteen other planets in the Lylat system that needed to be liberated. So I figured I could try and build up mainsteam forces.

At any rate, I hope you enjoy this profile and learn something that you didn't know before. And let me know if you see any flaws or spelling errors.

Bio: The Lylat system is home to a diverse range of anthropomorphic animal type lifeforms. Covering about twenty odd planets and two nebulae, theirs is a prosperous, peaceful political union. Despite or because of this, Lylat has faced a variety of threats from without and within. During these dark times, the people of planet Corneria and its united worlds band together to drive the darkness out.

RECON:
The Cornerian army uses a variety of sophisticated radar systems to monitor their own airspace and keep it free of infiltrators and enemy aircraft.

Their main source of recon however is their star-fighter corps; fast moving, highly trained and able to evade enemy patrols and pursuit. It was the star-fighter corps which was able to time and time again act as both spearheads for invasion and delaying action for retreat.

==INFANTRY==
Name: Cornerian Army
Weapon Type: Plasma
Armour Type: light plate
Training: 4
Mobility: 4
Maximum Range: assault rifle range
Preferred range: assault rifle range
Classification: Frontline infantry/peacekeepers

The Lylat system comprises thirty planets orbiting a binary star system. Each of those planet is either capable of supporting life or has been terraformed to support life. Originally designed for peacekeeping missions, policing and anti-piracy work; the Cornerian Army found themselves time and time again taking on overwhelming forces from both within and without the system.
Relatively few in number, they are a well-trained, well-motivated volunteer army.

--LOADOUT—

Long range: homing Launcher—Built by Space Dynamics, homing launchers were fielded by the Cornerian military at the onset of the Lylat wars to give an advantage over Emperor Andross’s heavy armor divisions. With a maximum range of over nine hundred meters, the launcher has the ability to target both ground vehicles and aircraft. It cannot however target cloaked units .

Unlike other rocket launchers, the Homing Launcher possesses a ten round magazine and the ability to fire a shot every two seconds; allowing an operator to kill or cripple all but the most heavily armored targets with sustained damage.

Sniper rifle: Handed over to trained marksmen, plans for the sniper rifle were purchased from known Mercenary scientist Slippy Toad. Powered by a battery, the rifle fired ten shots of direct energy; not unlike a Covenant Beam Rifle. Accurate to over a thousand meters, the Sniper rifle was devastating to even aircraft and medium tanks; eliminating them sometimes with a single hit based on the accuracy of the shooter. As a bonus, the Rifle’s powerful laser like shot does extra damage against energy shields; as it was the only weapon in the Cornerian Arsenal to take down Aparoid shield generators during the invasion of the Aparoid home world.

Medium range: Blaster—A staple of Cornerian military hardware, the blaster is a low powered, highly robust plasma weapon used by nearly every army in the Lylat system. Despite their low power output compared to other sci-fi weapons, Cornerian blasters have a high rate of fire and have the advantage of going for months and even years before a recharge as well as an onboard targeting system that partially aims the weapon for the user. While not strictly aiming the weapon, it does turn towards enemy targets as designated by an IFF system.

Machinegun—A dedicated anti-infantry weapon, the machinegun came into widespread use during the aparoid wars. The insect like, assimilating aparoids were heavily shielded against direct energy weapons but proved vulnerable to projectile weapons. While lacking the semi-tracking system of blasters, they are recoilless and easy to aim for a trained soldier.

The weapon uses a compressed NO2 initiated railgun system to fire a two hundred round magazine at either semi or full automatic rates of fire.

Defence:
Plate armor: Cornerian soldiers are issued light plate armor, designed to allow flexibility in the field as well as protection from ballistic projectiles and direct energy attacks. Armor plate is environment regulated and provides some protection against background radiation and chemical warfare. Cornerian Soldiers however learn quickly not to trust the armor to save their lives; relying mostly on cover and other methods of defence.

Reflector: Cornerian high command purchased the patents to this design from the Star Fox Mercenary team with the intention of improving survival rate of front line troops and law enforcement. By pressing a button on a compact projector, soldiers can create a blue hexagonal energy shield like those of Covenant Jackals but larger.
The shield reflects back energy weapons and ballistic weapons upon impact and has the added bonus of knocking back physical enemies in close proximity. The strength of this shield is such that it can reflect steady firepower from the laser cannons of an Arwing or comparable fighter craft. The one disadvantage is that the user cannot move or attack.

Name: Sentry Bot
Weapon Type: melee
Armour Type: energy shield
Training: 5
Mobility: 4
Maximum Range: lunge distance
Preferred range: melee
Classification: frontal shield units/security

Start at 8:25

After the first invasion of Emperor Andross and his numerically superior forces, the leadership of the Cornerian army realized that despite their tech advantage they would need a way to even the odds in terms of numbers. Up to that point, many remote research posts and deep space stations used robotic sentries; these robotic security forces were adapted for frontline combat.
==LOADOUT==
Melee: Sentry bots attack enemies with red hot, razor sharp extendable arms. This melee attack does heavy damage to most light infantry armor but has dramatically reduced damage output against vehicles and more robust infantry.
Defence: Sentry bots are equipped with powerful energy shields; so strong that they are able to take sustained fire from starfighters. The only weakness to the shield is that it must be deactivated to allow the sentry bot to attack; leaving it vulnerable for a window of two to three seconds. Otherwise the robot has virtually no armor.
When not being used for security detail, sentry bots function as mobile cover for Cornerian infantry as well as last ditch mine disposal.

Name: Ruffian
Weapon Type: energy weapon
Armour Type: ablative armor
Training: 3
Mobility: 5 (expert climbers with prehensile feet)
Maximum Range: assault rifle range
Preferred range: assault rifle range
Classification: mercenaries

Before and after the Lylat wars, the Sargasso Space zone was a hotbed of criminal activity. Not tremendously well trained or loyal by any measure, the assorted criminals and pirates of the sector are used to physical hardship and the rigors of war. Through Wolf O’Donnell and his various contacts, the Cornerian military has been able to draft large numbers of these criminals as mercenaries and privateers.
==LOADOUT==
Long range: Sniper rifle—See Cornerian Soldier
Homing Launcher—See Cornerian Soldier
Medium range: Blaster—See Cornerian Soldier
Defence: Space suit—As criminals, pirates and riffraff; the Ruffians typically don’t have a steady source of armor or weapons. However space suits are much easier to procure. While not as resistant to ballistic weapons as Cornerian plate armor, the Ruffian’s space suits protect them reasonably well from blaster fire, poison gas, biological agents and deadly radiation. While a Ruffian won’t want to stand and be a target for his enemies, if shot he will at least survive to fight another day.
Additional factors: As mercenaries and privateers, Ruffians fight for the highest bidder. However they have suffered heavy casualties from the Cornerian army in the past and they would only change sides in the face of assured defeat and a very substantial payday.

==ELITE INFANTRY==
Name: Ruffian Mech
Weapon Type: missile
Armour Type: heavy power armor
Training: 4
Mobility: 4
Maximum Range: missile distance
Preferred range: assault rifle range
Classification: heavy shock trooper for hire

Ruffians generally have a short life expectancy in the harsh life of the Sargasso Space Sector. Those that do live a long life did so by being smart as well as tough and eventually gained the time or means to find superior weapons and armor. Originally used as heavy lifting equipment, ruffian’s custom tool and experiment on their power armor to turn it into deadly machinery of war.

==LOADOUT==
Long range: Homing missiles—See Homing Launcher but more powerful
Medium range: Charge—Ruffians in mech suits are able to manage bursts of speed which can overturn smaller vehicles and flatten enemy infantry.
Melee: Suit’s strength—suits of this class can pulp an enemy’s skull, crush bones like glass and smash light vehicles.
Defence: Force field—While poorly armored, mech’s compensate with a powerful force field that easily reflects back blaster fire and ballistic weapons. Multiple homing missile shots are required to bring down the shield.

Name: Dog Soldier
Weapon Type: missile
Armour Type: light plate/energy shields
Training: 5
Mobility: 4
Maximum Range: sniper
Preferred range: assault rifle range
Classification: hardened infantry

Corneria before the Lylat wars was very much like the United States prior to the First World War; it lacked a large army or any kind of dedicated Special Forces school. After the Lylat wars and the Aparoid wars, the Cornerian army was left with a large number of soldiers who were seasoned combat vets. However a select few had gone through extra hardship during the war. The Dog soldiers were active from the start of the Lylat wars through the Aparoid conflict. They were all involved at the last ditch stand at Corneria City and are survivors of the Borg assimilation like “Aparoidization.” They’ve gone above and beyond the call of duty and continue to serve loyally.
==LOADOUT==

Long range: Demon Sniper rifle—At the end of the Aparoid war, Slippy Toad sold patents for this weapon’s design to the Cornerian military. The Demon sniper rifle is a powerful anti-materiel energy based weapon. It has greater range and greater accuracy than the conventional sniper rifle. With a single shot, it is able to destroy light tanks and fighter aircraft. The only disadvantage is its small five shot enabled battery.

Demon Launcher—A rare and difficult weapon to manufacture, this rocket only possesses a three shot magazine but compensates for increased range, more powerful warhead and higher accuracy.

Medium range: Gatling gun—A variant of the machine gun, the Gatling is a dedicated anti-armour weapon; able to chew through both physical armor and shields. The small one hundred round magazine combined with high rate of fire limits its application against large numbers of infantry but is still deadly against them nonetheless. During the Aparoid war these weapons were employed against Aparoid Dragoons; biomechanical creatures who could shrug off mass blaster/machinegun fire with minimal loss of shields or armor.

Blaster—See Cornerian Infantry

Defence: See Cornerian Infantry

==HERO UNITS==

Name: Fox McCloud
Age: 29
Classification: Ace Pilot
Hero Bonus: First strike assault unit

Born on one of Lylat’s outlying worlds and raised on Corneria, Fox McCloud has been a hero of the Lylat system and an ace pilot for going on twenty years. Once a promising student at the Cornerian Military academy, Fox dropped out and became a mercenary pilot upon the death of his father by the forces of Emperor Andross. Despite not fully finishing his training, Fox passed a trial by fire when Andross’s early raiders began to attack the Lylat system. Then, a year later during the Lylat wars, Fox made history when he not only outflew and outshot Andross’s best pilots but killed the evil emperor himself.

Fox would continue to prove himself as a pilot and as a foot soldier against a resurrected Andross, a ground war on a planet of dinosaurs and a powerful swarm race known as the Aparoids. A hero beyond reproach, Fox fights on the side of good and avoids the lure of piracy and banditry that many mercenaries fall into.

When the fighting starts in the air or on the ground, the Star Fox will be the first in the fight and the last to leave it.

Defence: See Cornerian Infantry

Reflector: See Cornerian Infantry

Name: ROB 64
Age:
Classification:
Hero Bonus

While the legendary mercenary unit Star Fox has served the Cornerian Military time and time again, they would be nowhere without the trusty Rob 64 at their side. A highly sophisticated robot, ROB not only controls their mothership, the Great Fox but also provides the Star Fox team with real time intel, analysis of enemy weapons and shields and a number of other functions. During the Lylat wars, ROB handled the team’s logistics, scanned and intercepted enemy frequencies and even provides targeting solutions for the team’s fighters.
==LOADOUT==
The Great Fox—See Airforce profile

Name: Peppy Hare
Age: 53
Classification: Faction Leader
Hero Bonus: Leadership, tactical, combat experience.

For more than thirty years, Peppy Hare served as an ace pilot. During his time in the Cornerian military forces he was a decorated fighter pilot with a superb discipline record. As a mercenary he was a mentor to Fox McCloud, fighting alongside him during some of the most dangerous and demanding missions of the Lylat wars. However Peppy was already old when the wars began and it was not long after that his time in the pilot’s seat ended.
Things changed however with the death of General Pepper. With the good general’s passing, there was no better qualified candidate to lead the unified Cornerian Military forces.

==LOADOUT==

The Great Fox—See Airforce Profile

Name: Wolf O’Donnel
Age: 35
Classification: Privateer/Elite Mercenary
Hero Bonus: First strike assault unit

Wolf O’Donnell came from a poor background but through perseverance and brutal cruelty came up to be the leader of his own mercenary group. Unlike Star Fox, Wolf had no qualms about working for any figure who could pay; no matter how evil.

When Andross was killed, he became something of a pirate king; extracting tribute and even somewhat-loyalty from the pirates and mercenaries of the Sargasso space sector.

While his rivalry and hatred for Fox McCloud has never died, his superb piloting skills and the control he wields over the ruffians means that he is a valuable asset to the Cornerian Army. And frankly, as long as they pay him he’ll follow them to the ends of the universe

Long range: Arwing—(see Airforce profile)

Sniper rifle—See Dog Soldiers

Medium range: Machine gun—See Dog Soldiers

Blaster—See Cornerian Infantry

Defence: See Cornerian Infantry

Reflector: See Cornerian Infantry

Name: Slippy Toad
Age: 36
Classification: Scientist
Hero Bonus: research, scanning, victory gains

Something about a cartoon toad gleefully firing a realistic gun looks super creepy

Excitable, annoying and childlike, Slippy Toad is a lifelong friend of Fox McCloud and the brains behind the Star Fox mercenary group. While not the strongest or sharpest of pilots, Slippy proved his worth time and time again by providing innovations and inventions that kept Star Fox one step ahead of Mercenary competition and enemy starfighters.

Slippy’s talents are not only limited to invention, he is also a keen analyst with a battery of sophisticated scanning equipment which he uses to assist fighter groups and ground forces in real time. During combat, Slippy’s role for Star Fox and other Cornerian forces was to relay the weaknesses of enemy vehicles, instillations and star craft.

Slippy’s greatest triumph however was when he found a way to permanently defeat the Aparoids; infecting their semi-mechanical hive mind with a self-destruct program, ending the threat for good.

Long range: Arwing—(see Airforce profile)

Demon Launcher—See Dog Soldiers

Medium range: Gatling gun—See Dog Soldiers

Blaster—See Cornerian Infantry

Defence: See Cornerian Infantry

Reflector: See Cornerian Infantry

Name: Krystal
Age: 26
Classification: Psychic warrior
Hero Bonus: combat, intelligence gathering

The newest member of the Star Fox Mercenary group, Krystal is descended from a group of Fox-morphs who inhabited a world outside the Lylat system. Her path crossed with Fox McCloud on Sauria, the Dinosaur planet; where she was involved in a brutal tooth and claw war instigated by the evil General scales.

Afterwards she served as a hardened hand to hand fighter in the Lylat and Aparoid wars as well as an ace pilot with skills equal to those of Fox McCloud himself.

However her greatest asset for Star Fox and the Cornerian military is her telepathic powers; which at times have changed the course of entire battles.

==LOADOUT==

Long range: Krystal’s Staff—A relic from her long dead people, Krystal possessed this staff after her home planet was destroyed; it’s all that’s left of her people. Roughly assault rifle ranged, the staff is able to shoot bolts of fire that explode and deal splash damage on attacking units. For heavier targets, a steady ice blast can freeze tyrannosaurus sized foes, robbing them of their stamina and with enough of an attack freezing them totally solid. Furthermore, the staff has a chameleon function, able to disguise the user as another species; it holds up fairly well outside the presence of dedicated detector units. Finally, the staff’s offensive power can generate ground quakes; small earthquakes/shockwaves that blow back groups of enemies while dealing concussive damage.

Short range: Blaster—See Cornerian Army

Krystal’s staff—The Staff itself is a handy and well balanced with the tip razor sharp; able to penetrate the skull of a tyrannosaur.

Defence: Channeling her psychic powers, Krystal is able to generate an energy shield similar to Fox’s Reflector

Name: Falco Lombardi
Age: 30
Classification: Elite Mercenary
Hero Bonus: frontline combat, ariel assault

Asshole. Misanthrope. Outlaw. Master pilot. These are a few descriptors that apply to the man named Falco Lombardi.

In his youth, Falco was a talented student at the Cornerian academy but with a lousy discipline record and poor ability to work with others. Dropping out before he could graduate, Falco dropped out and spent a number of years as a pirate and mercenary before joining up with Star Fox.

After the death of Andross, cantankerous and hot blooded Falco rapidly grew discontent with peace and left Star Fox to become a law breaker and lead his own rival mercenary outfit. Nonetheless, during the Aparoid invasion Falco flew with Fox and his old crew like nothing had ever happened.

Now Falco lives for adventure, the more dangerous the mission the better. And most certainly where Star Fox goes he will also go.

Medium range: Gatling gun—See Dog Soldiers

Blaster—See Cornerian Infantry

Defence: See Cornerian Infantry

Reflector: See Cornerian Infantry

Name: Beltino Toad
Age: 50
Classification: Scientist
Hero Bonus: research and development

For the last thirty years, Beltino Toad has worked with the Cornerian Science Academy, doing research for military and civilian interests. A skilled administrator as well as researcher, he is able to coordinate teams of scientists towards success in any given project. It was him who had researched the Aparoids for years before the invasion and gave Slippy the groundwork he needed to build the self-destruct program.

During the Aparoid invasion he was critical in building countermeasures to the highly adaptive aliens and during the aftermath devised a cure to aparoid assimilation.

Name: Katt Munro
Age: 30
Classification: Privateer
Hero Bonus: combat, ariel supremacy

Despite her overtly feminine front, Katt Munro is a heavy hitter among the mercenaries who toe the line between soldier of fortune and pirate. A skilled pilot with fifteen years under her belt, she’s a hot tempered feline who puts personal grudges over profits; waging a relentless one woman war against Emperor Andross because one of his patrols shot down her fighter.

She was originally put into contact with Star Fox through Falco, who was her on and off romantic and criminal partner.

Katt is not only an expert pilot but a master mechanic whose ability to increase the performance out of fighters rivals that of Slippy toad.

==CAVALRY==

Name: Gyrowing
Armor Type: energy shielding
Cavalry Purpose: resource gathering/sabotage
Classification: Versatile stealth vehicle
Speed: 200 kmph

Part of a new initiative with the Cornerian military, the Gyrowing is an inexpensively manufactured jack of all trades aircraft meant for a variety of mission profiles.

Not especially fast compared to other aircraft, the Gyrowing’s thruster fans are quiet enough that a being has to be within thirty feet or so to hear them; not to mention the radar and scanner absorbing coating protects it from most active and passive enemy detection systems. Only line of sight, high intensity scanners devised by Andross are able to detect the craft in enemy airspace.

While in enemy airspace, the Gyrowing functions as a recon unit, a resource gatherer and mine layer.

Armaments: Direct-I—A semi-autonomous helper robot, the Direct-I serves as an onboard repair unit as well as computer hacker. Detaching from the gyrowing, Detect-I can hack enemy computers, shut down defences and detection equipment. It is also able to ping valuable resources or assets for the Cornerian military or help to lift some of those resources and load them back into the Gyrowing.

Laser cannon—See Arwing

Neutron bomb: The Direct-I is able to drop remote controlled explosives to clear minefields or deal some damage to enemy instillations.

Defence: Energy shielding

==ARMOR==

Name: Landmaster
Armor: Heavy plate
Speed: 207 Khmph
Classification: high speed assault tank
Basic description:

The first prototype of the Landmaster was built by the Space Dynamics corporation as a robust ground vehicle meant to explore the most hazardous and inhospitable interplanetary environments. Just before the Lylat wars, Slippy toad reworked the vehicle for frontline combat; adding additional armor and weapons. Later on patents for this new comat vehicle, the Landmaster were purchased by the Cornerian military for their ground operations.

One of the Landmaster’s greatest positives is that it shares many of the same components as the Arwing; including the operator’s targeting and steering systems in the cockpit; allowing for logistical streamlining and ease of training for pilots. Furthermore the craft’s jet assisted mobility and jump abilities lend themselves well to pilot skills or anyone who aspires to be a pilot.

Armaments: T&B-J2 Laser cannon: A high powered, long range laser cannon run on the same fusion power plant that drives the Landmaster’s engines; the J2 laser is powerful enough to rip through heavy shields and armor of massive ground vehicles and accurate enough to shoot down starfighters in atmosphere.

Smart bomb: A miracle of Cornerian military research, the technically named Nova bomb is a high impact, high payload, guided bomb used for both deep space conflict and atmospheric battle. Using a vehicle’s targeting systems, the Nova bomb becomes a homing missile that can wipe out a squadron of starfighters in its blast or kill or cripple larger, more heavily shielded targets.

Used by starfighters to take down Capital ships, Landmasters use the Nova bomb to bring down enemy air units and take out heavy ground vehicles and entrenched positions and emplacements.

Defence: Ablative armor plating—The Landmaster is protected by frontal armor 0.65 meters thick and side armor 0.45 meters thick. The plating itself is highly resistant to ballistics and energy weapons. One of the armor’s great virtues is the fact that it is incredibly easy to repair.

Additional factors: Grav-Master form—Though it drains the craft’s engines, the pilot can for a limited time turn the Landmaster into a true flying unit. Though it only last for thirty seconds, the Grav-Master has more than triple the speed of the Landmaster.

Name: Blue Marine
Armor: Heavy plate, energy shield
Speed: 116 km/ph
Classification: Assault Submersible
Basic description:

The forces of Emperor Andross and later the Anglar were entrenched in almost every environment, habitat and biosphere. Several times, battles had to be taken in submarine environments all the way to two kilometers deep.

Originally designed as a pleasure craft, Slippy and Beltino toad outfitted a civilian submersible with weapons and armor and unleashed it on an aquatic base at Aquas. Not only did it survive vairous underwater defences but the Blue Marine piloted by Fox McCloud eventually killed a massive bio-organic kaiju creature known as Baccoon.

In light of this success, Blue Marine was adopted by the Cornerian army for marine combat across the system.

Armaments: T&B-U3 Laser cannons--Similar in design to the main guns of the Arwing, these lasers use many of the same spare parts. They are calibrated specifically for firing at long ranges under water without loss of energy.

Guided Torpedo--See Nova Bomb

Name: Gigarilla
Armor: Heavy plate, energy shield
Speed: 60 Khmph
Classification: Assault Mecha
Basic description:

A powerful weapon originally designed and built by Emperor Andross, Cornerian forces stole an experimental mecha and adapted it for their own purposes.

Standing almost fifty meters tall, the Gigarilla is less of a tank than a mobile bunker. Computer controlled, it can either act autonomously or be remotely piloted.

Armaments—Tubro Lasers: The Gigarilla contains a number of laser batteries which are exponentially stronger than conventional lasers; able to level fortified bunkers and blow fully shielded starships out of the sky.

Homing missiles—Launched in barrages of thirty these missiles are fast moving and can serve as a powerful anti-fighter deterent or rip through the armor of larger, hardened targets

Brute Power—shaped after an ape, the Gigarilla rips through buildings, fortifications and even hardened forcefields with ease. Literally it seems to have stepped out of the pages of an epic Kaiju movie.

Defence—The Gigarilla’s regenerative, ablative plating is frighteningly durable. To date it is the only one of Andross’s creations that could not be destroyed by concentrated attack by the Starfox Squadron. So powerful were the craft’s defences that the Cornerian’s had nothing to destroy the craft short of dedicated orbital bombardment. They were able to steal the prototype from Andross by hacking the machine’s CPU and turning it against its master.

Tireless work by Cornerian scientists has made sure that the Gigarilla is far harder to hack than Andross’s original make and comes with several anti-hacking safety measures.

==AIRFORCE==

Name: Arwing
Type of Aircraft: Elite Performance combat ship
Fighter or Bomber: fighter
Armor type: Gravity shielding/plate armor
Weapon Type: Laser cannons
Classification: Air and Space Superiority fighter

The Arwing is a masterpiece of Cornerian engineering and science; the pinnacle of aerospace combat. These venerable craft have been the spine of government armies and mercenaries in the Lylat system for over twenty years; and for a number of reasons.

The craft is powered by the revolutionary G-Diffuser, a thruster system that manipulates space time and repels gravity to provide near instantaneous acceleration and deceleration without doing harm to an organic pilot. The system in atmosphere can take the pilot to a maximum cruising speed of Mach 4.2.

Arwing’s are immensely durable spacecraft; Peppy Hare was able to make atmospheric escape while missing a wing and having half his hull blown off. Overall it balances beautifully armor, weapons and speed.

Armaments: See Landmaster

Additional factors: Walker mode—The Arwing comes recently with a new ground based form of locomotion; wherein the wings transform into legs. As a bipedal walker, the Arwing keeps all of its defensive and offensive abilities. While slower than in the air, the walker form of the Arwing can maintain a lively seventy kilometers per hour over various forms of terrain. This makes it ideal for holding taken territory and escaping anti-aircraft guns while still dealing damage.
Defence: Plate armor
Barrell Roll—While the subject of many internet meme, pilots who do a barrel roll in combat coat their craft temporarily in a dense gravity field that deflects powerful projectile and direct energy attacks.

Name: Cornerian Fighter
Type of Aircraft: Elite Performance combat ship
Fighter or Bomber: fighter
Armor type: Gravity shielding/plate armor
Weapon Type: Laser cannons
Classification: Air and Space Superiority fighter

While not as iconic as the Arwing, the Cornerian Fighter is a mainstay of Lylat aerospace combat which continues to prove its mettle in air and in space. Cornerian Fighters had the advantage of being extremely inexpensive to manufacture and highly flexible when it came to upgrades and customization. The craft’s controls were extremely simple, allowing fast training of raw recruits in the face of overwhelming numbers.

A baseline Cornerian fighter was not as fast as an Arwing in atmosphere or space but made up for this with incredible durability; they were more or less immune to Venomian and Aparoid fighters, only being able to be destroyed by larger spacecraft and emplacements. This durability allows rookie pilots to build up experience and reduces turnover. Eyewitness reports had Cornerian fighters slamming into asteroids at full velocity and coming out with only cosmetic damage.

For more experienced and skilled pilots, the fighters were overhauled for various mission profiles; sacrificing armor rating for greater firepower, speed equal to the Arwing or even stealth equipment for behind enemy lines bombing campaigns.

Name: Wolfen Fighter
Type of Aircraft: Elite Performance combat ship
Fighter or Bomber: fighter
Armor type: Gravity shielding/plate armor
Weapon Type: Laser cannons
Classification: Air and Space Superiority fighter

The Wolfen Class starfighter was a limited production high performance starfighter produced by the late Emperor Andross’s shipyards in an attempt to make up for the immense performance of the Arwing. Even the relatively slower and softer hitting Cornerian fighters were worth ten of Andross’s venom fighters; thus the Wolfen project was spearheaded by Andross personally.

The Wolfen came too late to truly affect the course of the war, the first models being handed off to a few elite pilots like Wolf O’Donnel and his pirate crew, StarWolf.

Generally weaker armored and shielded than the Arwing, the Wolfen compensates with a superior targeting system and longer range weapons. The performance between the two craft otherwise is very close and in most cases the skill of the pilot is the deciding factor.

These craft are small in number but are crewed by Wolf O’Donnel’s most skilled and most driven pilots.

Armaments: See Arwing

Defence: See Arwing

Name: Star Claw
Type of Aircraft: Elite Performance combat ship
Fighter or Bomber: fighter
Armor type: Gravity shielding/plate armor
Weapon Type: Laser cannons
Classification: Air and Space Superiority fighter

When Falco Lombardi left the StarFox mercenary group, he needed a ship of his own to get by as a mercenary and adventurer. Thus with his remaining funds, he bought a decommissioned Arwing MK II from Cornerian military surplus and set to work on it; ripping the ship down to its chasis and remaking it from the ground up.

The result was the Star Claw, a fighter craft which while much more delicate than the Arwing and less able to soak up damage, had more than double the maximum speed and superior atmospheric and space maneuverability. In the aftermath of the Aparoid war, this became Peppy's personal command ship in his term as supreme leader of the Cornerian forces.

Armanents: T&B-H9 Laser cannons--A pair of high sec auto tracking laser turrets, these large, high powered weapons are a threat both to fast moving fighter craft and a danger to heavily armored battleships like those comprising Andross's fleet.

Defence: See Arwing but stronger

Armaments: See Arwing

Defence: See Arwing

Name: The Great Fox
Type of Aircraft: Command ship
Fighter or Bomber: fighter
Armor type: Gravity shielding/plate armor
Weapon Type: Laser cannons
Classification: Deep Space Strike Cruiser

Built by Space Dynamics, the Great Fox is a custom ordered, hand crafted deep strike utility starship used by the Original StarFox team. For more than thirty years it provided the StarFox team with residence, long range travel and tactical support.

The craft's powerful plasma engines allow it to warp between star systems and the streamlined design lends to an atmospheric speed of 1.4 Mach.

==SUPPORT CLASS==

Name: Wing gyro
Armor type:
Classification:
Bonus:

The Wing gyro is a form of automated repair system dropped en-mass from orbit. Fighter craft are the primary fighting units of the Cornerian military and sometimes the rigors of war do not permit long overhaul and repair. Thus when a fighter makes contact, even at maximum speed, with a wing gyro; the device automatically repairs the incoming fighter.

Scientifically speaking, when it strikes the craft at high velocity it breaks down into nanoparticles which regenerate the craft’s health. The even if a wing is ripped off of a fighter craft the wing gyro can replace the missing or damaged wing in seconds and leave the ship in fighting form.

Name: RE:BOT
Armor type: plate metal
Classification: mining droid
Bonus: Resource gatherer

The Lylat system and its governments are friendly to private enterprise of all sorts; hence in times of national crisis, these private entities are expected to pitch in and contribute to the overall defence of the system.

Among various mining corporations big and small is a type of resource gatherer known as the RE:BOT. A low cost, low maintenance exploration droid that can either act autonomously or remote control the RE:BOT series was used to extract shallow surface metals or salvage wrecks in a fast, environmentally friendly way.

When war came to Corneria, this series of robots became used to salvage the wreckages of Andross’s fleets and war machines; turning enemy hardware into raw materials for new starships and robots.

These froglike robots effectively vacuum up nearby metal resources and within a matter of seconds process that into ingots which are further refined into everything from microprocessors to handheld weapons.

While these bots are highly armored, they are unarmed and need to travel with escorts in lawless regions.

Name: Mining base
Armor type: Metal walls
Classification: Portable mining facility
Bonus: Manufacturing

The Cornerian government invested a great deal of time and research to make resource extraction and space exploration available to small entrepreneurs; thereby avoiding monopolies and domination by large conglomerates. A side effect of this is that there are now legions of prospectors and fabricators who can set up shop quickly in a warzone and get out just as quickly.

The Mining base is an example of modular portable technology based on cutting edge science. A mining base can be set up in under an hour and then taken apart and loaded up in just as little time.

Protected by walls and laser turrets, the main feature of a base is the Tower, which uses a hard light matrix to refine ingots of metal, plastic or other materials into sophisticated, ready to use machine parts. These parts can be used to build new starships or robots from scratch or upgrade the weapons, armor and engines of the Cornerian Army’s collection of war machines. They allow the Cornerian Army and fleet to operate and resupply even when supply lines have been cut.

Defense: Aegis Cam—See Defense

==DEFENSE==

Name: Aegis-Cam
Type: Static defence
Armament: Laser weapon
Defence: minimal
Special: good against infantry or light ground vehicles

One of Slippy Toad’s inventions, this technology was invented patented and sold before the young amphibian had even graduated the Cornerian Academy. After the Lylat wars, patents to the Aegis-Cam were lifted; causing the technology to become nigh universal among prospectors, explorers and everyone in-between.

The Aegis-Cams are remote controlled and can be guided by an operator as far away as several billion kilometers away. Not as powerful as the main guns of an Arwing, the Cams nonetheless have a higher rate of fire and extreme accuracy. Their low cost and rapid manufacture time allows them to be deployed in the thousands in only a few hours. When coupled with a mining camp and a RE:BOT, the laser weapons on the Aegis-Cams can be upgraded for power, firing rate and range.

The one weakness of the Aegis-Cams are their light armor; Andross and his successors took advantage of this by sending suicide bomber robots after the cams.

Name: Radar Sites
Type: Detection
Armament: none
Defence: plate armor
Special: good against stealth craft

Dem Graphics

The Cornerian military wherever they go have their civilian contractors and combat engineers set up Radar Sites. These towers are relatively fast to construct; taking roughly a twenty-four hour period and are able to detect all but the most heavily shielded stealth craft. These radar towers serve as early warning systems for the Cornerian army.

Name: Radar Buoy
Type: Detection
Armament: none
Defence: minimal
Special: good against heavy stealth

Radar buoys are spotlight like devices used by both the Cornerian forces and Emperor Andross. These devices project a highly concentrated scanning beam which can cut through stealth and anti-detection measures that Radar sites would miss.

As their focus is very narrow they are usually deployed in number and around sensitive or strategically important sites. Normally they are found around bases and fortifications.

==LEADER PROFILE==

Name: Peppy Hare has led a life of adventure, maybe even more so than the famous Fox McCloud.  Such was the recognition that he’d earned that after the death of General Pepper, the Cornerian government appointed him as the Supreme leader of the Cornerian armed forces. He received such a commission shortly before the Aparoid war, one of the most brutal and ferocious wars in the history of the Lylat system; even more than the war with Andross.

For decades Peppy had been one of the brains behind the StarFox Mercenary group, orchestrating raids against pirates as well as Andross’s forces.

In the dark days of the Aparoid Invasion Peppy personally helped to plan for the retaking of Corneria; which had fallen under the control of the malevolent aliens. He even personally rescued the late General Pepper from the clutches of the invaders. At one point he even attempted a kamaikaze mission against the shield generator of the Aparoid homeworld, breaking open a gap for the rest of Starfox to get through and deliver the self destruct program.

==STATS==

Adaptive Creativity: 60/100—Peppy has always been about striking an enemy’s weakpoints. While not a genius by any means, he is willing to do anything and everything to finish off an enemy.

Tactics: 70/100—Peppy invented most of the tactics used by the StarFox team and especially Fox McCloud himself. From the infamous barrel roll to intricate dogfighting strategies; he is dynamic, always learning and constantly looking for ways to improve his and his armies tactical prowess.

Strategy: 65/100—Peppy’s strategies tend to favor overwhelming aggression, utilizing Mongol style fast attack and retreat techniques. He is limited in this field given his overreliance on aggressive, mobile warfare and his lack of experience with sieges or defensive actions.

Intuition: 60/100—Peppy for years lived a life of risk and survived for as long as he did by picking fights he could win and avoiding fights he couldn’t.

Audacity: 90/100—Peppy is more than willing to sacrifice his own life to win the war or to allow his comrades to strike a killing blow. Like General Patton, he will stop at nothing to win.

Psychological warfare: 50/100—As a commander, Peppy favors strategic blows against infrastructure and weakpoints on war machines over attempts at intimidation or subterfuge. That said, he is open to negociation if his opponents are truly itching for peace.

Experience: 47/100—Peppy has been a soldier for more than thirty years, fought against all kinds of enemies and alien beasts and even been assimilated by an alien nano-virus and cured.

Discipline: 70/100—Virtually nothing can make Peppy flinch. He’s faced death, torture, drowning and Borg like assimilation. In all of these situations he has calmly given orders and only grown worried for his subordinates and their lives.

Leadership: 70/100—Peppy is a highly respected war hero with the esteem of soldiers, civilians, scientists and engineers. He is well regarded, would not sacrifice his men’s lives in vain and continues to lead by example.

==ARMY X-FACTORS==

Morale: 70/100- Cornerians are not a warlike people and frankly they are weary of war. That said however, their forces are highly trained and the lack of unwilling conscripts or meat shield infantry helps to raise this factor.

Logistics: 75/100-Decades and more of investing into deep space exploration and merchant space travel have paid off dividends for the military. Most of the Cornerian Army's war machines are robust, require little maintennance and they have the means to repair everything quickly in the field as well as perform small scale manufacturing almost on the front lines.

Espionage: 60/100-Most of the Cornerian Military's espionage comes from long range scans, reconnaissance from fighters and stealth craft as well as hacked communications. However they lack a specific espionage agency; though their hacking is quite impressive.

Discipline: 75/100-Military service on Coerneria is strictly voluntary and soldiers are highly trained and given substantial benefits. More than out of any sense of bloodlust or revenge, the soldiers of the Lylat system are looking to protect their home and see it restored to the glory and peace of happier days.

Overall intimidation: 25/100-Intimidation is a low priority for the Cornerian Military. Physically they are not very intimidating  unless the enemy has a phobia of anthropomorphic animals.

Reinforcement Rate: Low

The Lylat government holds about fifteen planets; populated from the high billions to the low billions for each planet. A number of permanent space habitations increase the overall population of the area and the reinforcement rate of the army.

However the Cornerian army has never been shy about bolstering their numbers with mercenaries; as long as those mercenaries can be trusted not to commit war crimes and get the job done.

==VICTORY GAINS==

Technological: High

The Cornerian Military invests highly in the sciences and wherever possible they stole entire war machine regiments from Emperor Andross. With every enemy they have ever encountered the Cornerians have managed to technologically catch up with or leapfrog.

Biological: Medium

The Cornerians don't have much in the way of biotechnology beyond finding cures for plagues. However they do have experience with undoing massive mutagenic mutation; such as those of the aparoid infectious viruses.

Mercenaries/Allies: The Cornerians are no stranger to hiring Mercenaries, the Starfox team being only the most blatant example. Besides their mercenary contacts lured in by good pay the Cornerians are an honorable people to an almost inhuman degree in both their government and the free market. Anyone who allies with Corneria will have found a solid and truthworthy trading partner as well as a stolid and steadfast military ally.

==PAST ENEMIES==

Andross's Empire: The exiled mad scientist Andross was able to take a loose collection of pirates and smugglers and turn them into a true empire of doom. His forces outnumbered the Cornerian Army thirty to one and was composed of mostly expendable fighters, a large contingent of automated war robots and a small core of elite fighters and war machines.

Andross pushed the Cornerians all the way back to Lylat, where the tide was turned by Star Fox and his team. After Lylat, Star Fox and company took one of twenty possible space lanes held by Andross while the Cornerian Military took up all others; breaking down Andross's fleets, besieging his fortresses and mopping up ground forces with concentrated bombing runs.

After Fox McCloud killed Andross, his Empire was turned over to his newphew Oikony. By this point Cornerian Technology had closed the gap with Andross's sophisticated doomsday machines. From there the core of elite war machines was gutted and the Cornerians won victory after victory.

the Aparoid Empire: The Aparoid were a biotechnological extragalatic species of aliens from an unknown origin. Initially they were known to the Cornerians only from a partial scan taken from a scout ship of a single Aparoid vessel.

The Aparoid's had a larger numerical advantage than Andross enjoyed as well as technology that equaled that of the Cornerians. These strange aliens adapted rapidly, learning from enemy tactics and adjusting their biotechnology to win.

The war with the Aparoids was costly, far more so than the War with Andross. Aparoids were expelled from Lylat and several other worlds at great cost in military and civilian casualties.

Working under pressure, the Cornerians learned the binary/genetic code of the Aparoids and used that to create a self destruct program which was used by Fox McCloud to infect the Aparoid queen and finally wipe out the invasive species.
